Lesum Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Lesum Bridge is a road bridge over the Lesum in what is now the Bremen district of Burglesum. It has connected the two banks for over 600 years.
The Lesum was the border between the city of Bremen and the Prussian-Hanoverian communities to the north until 1939. It is particularly narrow at this point and therefore particularly suitable for a fixed crossing. For the people of Bremen, but also their enemies, the bridge and the fortress built to protect it on the southern side of the Lesum were a strategically important object. Over the centuries, the Danes (1625), Swedes (1645 and 1653) and French (1757) took over the bridge. Due to its importance as a trade route, the Swedish Field Marshal Erik Dahlberg called it the "key to Bremen"

Memorial Site Bunker Valentin

Highlight • Historical Site

The bunker Valentin is the ruin of a submarine shipyard of the German navy from the Second World War. From 1943 to 1945, thousands of forced laborers from all over Europe were used here: civilians as well as prisoners of war and concentration camp inmates. More than 1,100 of them died during construction of malnutrition, disease and indiscriminate killings. What remains is the bunker Valentin, a unique and unmissable relic of Nazi armor for the naval war. He is a place of remembrance of the war and of the crimes of the National Socialist rule.
The grounds and the very impressive multimedia information center are open daily from 10 am to 4 pm, except on Mondays and Saturdays.
On public holidays the place of thought is closed.

View of the Weser River dike

Highlight • Viewpoint

Right on the dike. With good temperatures and little wind, it is a nice place to stay longer.

Vegesack City Garden

Highlight • Natural

The city garden is beautifully laid out and well cared for and it offers something especially for those who cannot or do not want to go on long tours. Individual stairs can be easily avoided, so the park is also suitable for prams, bicycles with trailers, wheelchairs and walkers. The Weser then gives it a little holiday mood.

Nice to drive through, but very crowded in good weather. Then it will be a "slalom tour": D
