After the snow has melted, the water from the Ötztaler Ache gushes down the mountain. Experienced and courageous water sports enthusiasts dare to go into the water with their little rafting kayaks between the stones. You can watch them from a safe distance from the bridge.

May 4, 2022,AU - Alps - Ötztal - Oetz - Along the Ötztaler Ache to the Piburger See
After yesterday's challenging climb to the Narrenkogel, we decided to do a lighter and shorter recovery hike today. We explored the beautiful Piburger lake and the Ötztaler Ache (hosting the kayaking world championship). It's amazing to see the Alps slowly coming to life with all the blossoming trees.
This 9 km hike can easily be done with the family. there are some highlights not to be missed, the Kluft, the Seejöchl and the breathtaking view of the city of Oetz from the Kanzel.
Nothing is right. KM, average speed.
But it was nice

Today's house hike
Piburger Lake high-altitude hike 🙂
First to the pulpit, then down to the Kruft and up, briefly past Piburger Lake, also past the later stop 😊 up to Seejöchle....stops have to be earned... 😂
From there down, down to Piburger Lake, past the right hand side of the lake shore, to the well-deserved stop.
From there to …

We crossed the Weller Bridge to Lake Piburg, then to the Seejöchl Pass with its Jöchl Cross. Further stops included Piburg, the Piburg Mill, Kluft, and the Kanzel Pass. All in light rain, but still enjoyed stunning views.

Water strider Piburger See

We missed the first part of the official path through Ötz and wanted to park and board directly at the Ötztaler Ache. The parking lot there is small and was already full, which is why we parked at the Acherkogelbahn.

When the weather was nice, we hiked from Oetz to and around Lake Piburg today. Due to the clean-up work after the storm, some paths were closed or could only be climbed. But still a nice tour!
The forest workers are doing a really good job here 👏

Great hike! Nice views of the river, lake and mountains. Mid-May was open, although some parts were a bit overrun by vegetation and fallen trees, no trouble for experienced hikers
