In midsummer temperatures, we set off from our campsite toward the Groppenstein Gorge. We slowly descended, through cow pastures, always on the Alpe-Adria Trail. The first gorge was fantastic, with numerous waterfalls, and the many pools beckoned us to swim. But of course, that's forbidden!
