Wrocław Cathedral (Cathedral of St. John the Baptist)

Highlight • Religious Site

The Dom, or Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, stands on Cathedral Island, which used to be under the administration of the Bishop of Wrocław rather than the city. The construction of the Gothic cathedral started in the 1340s. On Easter Monday 1945, 70 percent of the church was destroyed. The reconstruction, which the Polish people of Wroclaw began immediately after the war, was only completed in 1991 when the two pointed helmets were placed on the church towers

Highlight • Religious Site

This church is also worth seeing; Wrocław has a very high density of churches in relation to the city limits.

Lovers' Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

It is not difficult to guess that there are, or rather were, hung padlocks on the bridge by people professing their love for each other. Due to their huge number, the symbols of these loves threatened the bridge's structure and were removed. However, those struck by love's arrow have found a way to do that, too, by hanging padlocks on the balustrades at the entrance to the bridge.

Tumski Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Wrocław has a large number of very beautiful bridges, which is why this city is also called the "Venice of the East".

Zwierzyniecki Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

The Zwierzyniecki Bridge in Wrocław is a steel truss bridge over the Old Oder, connecting the city centre with the Dąbie, Biskupin, Sępolno and Bartoszowice estates. Its history dates back to the 17th century, when the first wooden bridge was built here. The current structure, designed in the late 19th century by Karl Klimm and Richard Plüddemann, is distinguished by its characteristic steel arches and decorative obelisks made of red sandstone. The bridge survived the siege of Wrocław in 1945, despite preparations to blow it up. In the years 2022-2024, it underwent a thorough renovation, during which, among other things, a historical plaque with an inscription was recreated. Near the bridge is the Zwierzyniecka Marina, from where tourist boats depart on the Oder.

Centennial Hall in Wrocław, designed by Max Berg, was built in 1911–1913 as an example of expressionist architecture. In 2006, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is also under conservation protection, along with the surrounding architectural complex, including the Four Domes Pavilion, the Pergola, and the Spire.

Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia)

Highlight • Monument

In the justification, the building was described as a "pioneering work of modern technology and architecture". The Centennial Hall is a "creative and innovative example of the development of construction technology in large reinforced concrete structures. The interior of the Riesenhalle is even more fascinating. The hall is currently used for trade fairs, sports and cultural events. It has around 6,000 seats, and if standing room is used, it can hold almost 20,000 people. With a diameter of 65 meters, its dome was the largest self-supporting structure in the world at the time.
