As we pass through the beautiful town of Lumpiaque belonging to the Valdejalón region, we can visit the parish church of San Francisco de Asís, built in the 16th century with a beautiful Mudejar bell tower, currently listed as a World Heritage Site; or also the Hermitage of Santa Bárbara, dating from the 17th century.

Balsa de Larralde

Highlight • Lake

La Balsa de Larralde or Torre Medina is a wetland located in the municipality of Zaragoza, in the neighborhood of Torre Medina, belonging to the rural neighborhood of Garrapinillos. This pond, together with the Ojo del Cura and El Fraile, are part of an old set of lagoons that surround the neighborhoods of Casetas and Garrapinillos and that were formed by the subsidence of the land since the subsoil plasters were diluted by groundwater. and they end up collapsing forming sinkholes.

La Balsa de Larralde, recovered by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE) and by the Aragon Naturalist Association, is a 4-hectare wetland with a great and rich variety of flora and fauna. It has a maximum depth of 5 meters.

La Balsa is surrounded by poplars and reedbeds. The latter forms a belt that protects the raft as aquatic vegetation. Fundamentally it is formed by two species of plants: the reed itself and the cattail. This environment is used by a diversity of animals to take refuge, search for food or build their nests.
