Tombs of the Kings

The tombs of the necropolis are made of sandy limestone. They are constructed as shaft, chamber, and atrium tombs. Architecturally, they exhibit Greek forms. The rectangular pillars or Doric columns, carved from natural rock, continue at the top into a horizontal, unarticulated entablature or architrave. Metope and triglyph friezes cut into the rock form the upper section. The recess in the rock above the entablature must be considered the support of the former covering (Wikipedia).
