Super suggestive, it's been a surprise to find these old little tunels and steepy roads. Be careful because the road surface is not maintained at all.

After a strenuous drive up, you have now earned a break in one of the restaurants / hotels! And the best is yet to come: the descent 🎢 😋.

From here it's easy to go downhill. In Gletsch you have to decide: left up to the Furka pass to Realp (Uri) or right down to Oberwald in beautiful Goms (Valais).

The Grimsel Pass is a Swiss mountain pass that connects the Bernese Oberland with the Upper Valais and separates the Bernese from the Uri Alps.
The pass is at 2163 m above sea level.

Fantastic ascent next to the Aare on a paved road. Car traffic was limited.
Nice break possibility directly at the Totensee at the top …

What a day.

In glorious sunshine, we set off from Gletsch today, heading towards Meiningen, up the Grimsel Pass. But it actually started in Andermatt. And because the Furka Pass is way too big for me, I took the train from Realp. The route to Gletsch is truly worth seeing, and the staff are very helpful.
