🏛️ Schloss Fantaisie

Highlight • Castle

Fantaisie Castle is in Eckersdorf-Donndorf, five kilometers west of Bayreuth.
It was built as a further summer residence (after the Hermitage) for the Margrave couple Friedrich and Wilhelmine of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
The Garden Art Museum is located in the chateau building.
The castle has a beautiful, large park.

Nice pond. The Talmühlbach flowing south through the area forms the Herzogweiher below Schloss Fantaisie.

Arzloch Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

The wild, narrow valley becomes ever narrower, and finally, a picture from another world. The small waterfall at the Arzloch. You can go through the back. The small trails there (red circle) are at the end to sliding, carrying and short to Klettterstrecke. -Märchenhaft! -

Victory Tower in the Geigenholz

Highlight • Monument

The listed observation tower in the violin wood was built by Duke Alexander von Württemberg on the occasion of the peace with France in 1870-71, with a line of sight to Fantaisie Castle. There is an inscription on the tower: "In memory of the glorious peace after the victorious battles of the German army in the memorable years 1870/1871". (Regarding the victory against France in 1870/1871).
Unfortunately the tower is not (anymore) open, as Susanne says. (Status: 03/2020)

Highlight • Monument

Mystical resting place on a gate-shaped rock formation, the French Bridge. While taking a break here, you can be amazed at what physics and skillful architecture can do.

SH,Altesdorf,Annistochter and bbhexe were together again today. First a short round to the Teufelsbrücke. We met most of the people in the Fantasy Castle Park. Through the beautiful Salamandertal we went over to the Arzloch. Unfortunately, the waterfall had no water! The path there was also a bit more risky, but slowly manageable. Small rest at the victory tower and …
