The current 100-meter-high reinforced concrete tower was built between 1959 and 1960. The transmitter has a very large range: from the Upper Palatinate Jura across the entire Bavarian Forest, the entire Danube Valley to Linz. The southernmost part of the transmission area is the northern part of the Alps. There, the Brotjacklriegel transmitter is the main basic network transmitter in some areas, as much closer locations such as Wendelstein or Hochberg are shaded by nearby mountain ranges. The transmitter can also be received well in parts of the Czech Republic.
