Cool path, along the border with the Czech Republic, no man's land as far as the eye can see, very beautiful.

From Bad Brambach you can cross this bridge directly to the former Waldcafe and then on to Hohendorf.

Stone arch bridge over the Röthenbach at the Upper Grenzquelle in Bad Brambach. It is believed that the stone arch bridge and the spring house were built around 1935. A nice highlight in the spa gardens of Bad Brambach on the way to the Duellstein.

Oberreuth Memorial

Highlight (Segment) • Monument

The place was first mentioned in 1291 as a possession of the family Notthafft on Wildstein. The place and other goods of the family were to the Nuremberg burgrave Friedrich III. pledged. About the family Neuberg and the city of Eger, the place finally passed in 1534 into the possession of the family Zedtwitz, which already had considerable possession in the Ascher Larch.
After the abolition of patrimonial Oberreuth formed in 1850 a district of the community Wernersreuth in the district Asch and Asch district. In 1874 Oberreuth broke up and became a separate municipality. A major fire in 1917 destroyed many buildings and many families migrated to it. In 1939, Oberreuth had 241 inhabitants.
Between 1938 and 1945, the community was part of the German district of Asch. After the expulsion of the Germans in 1945, the city became part of the restricted area in 1950. The place fell noticeably. In 1970, the last remnants of the village were demolished. Today you can still guess the remains of the old cemetery in nature.

Oberreuth, founded in the 14th Century, was about 6 km east of the town of Asch, directly on the way to Bad Brambach. In the 1930s, about 300 people lived in the village. The village was at that time an important border crossing point. After the Germans were resettled, the village was only partially resettled. After the establishment of the border zone in the 1950s, all residents were resettled and the village was destroyed. In the 1960s, border guard barracks were built, which housed the Soviet army after 1968. Until 1990 the area was completely cut off from the outside world. Today the community is inhabited again. However, this settlement has nothing in common with the original village. This was closer to the border. Only a small cross and overgrown foundation walls remind of the former settlement.

Elster Spring

Highlight • Natural Monument

The Elsterquelle can be easily reached by bike from both Aš (Czech Republic) and Bärendorf (Germany). You can reach the source via a small wooden walkway. There is also a book here that you can sign up. The small refuge nearby is an ideal place for a break.
