Willibaldsburg, Eichstätt

Highlight • Castle

The Willibaldsburg castle towers high above Eichstätt and is visible from afar.

The castle complex was built in 1355 by Bishop Berthold Burggraf von Zollern and served as the episcopal seat until 1725. In the 17th century, the castle was converted into a representative residence.

Today, the castle houses various museums and natural science collections. There is also a beautiful castle garden, and the "Bierschänke" takes care of refreshments.

The bike path leads along the waterfront promenade directly into the town and its beer garden. So why not take a break and enjoy a white beer or a shandy, then explore the town a bit?

It's definitely worth it, and you'll take home some lovely memories. Neuburg is always worth a visit.

After rain and cold, I finally saddled up my 🦂 again and went for a wonderful ride - accompanied by a very strong and gusty wind 💨💨💨 from what felt like very different directions 🔁; but that doesn't really matter to someone 🦂 who is crouching down and striving forward, as long as nothing is falling from above... 🍀✌️
