Eckersmühlen Lock and Visitor Platform

Highlight • Monument

If you are here on the Main-Danube Canal, you should not miss the visitor platform of the Eckersmühlen lock. As with the locks in Hilpoltstein and Leerstetten, the lock drop height is 24.67 meters, which is the largest drop height that has ever been built in Germany.

Roth Market Square

Highlight • Settlement

Thanks to the good S-Bahn connection to Nuremberg, the town of Roth is perfectly suited as a starting and finishing point for long bike rides in the Franconian Lake District. A stroll through the picturesque old town of Roth and a stop at one of the many cafes and inns is the perfect way to end your bike ride.

Ratibor Castle currently offers three different puzzle tours for children:

- Johann Seeks Toto,

- Georg and Wilhelm,

and a family puzzle related to a special exhibition.

We did "Johann Seeks Toto," and it was really lovely and not at all boring. The children are given a detective kit with helpful tools and a map of the castle. The puzzles are varied and easy to solve. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There's also a reward at the end.

We'll definitely come back and do the other puzzle as well.

The puzzle tour is included in the admission price.

Children up to 10 years old are free, concessions are €1, and adults are €3.

For the Challenge Triathlon, the Stadtgarten or Stadtpark serves as the destination of the final running route every year. Then it will be converted into the so-called triathlon park and the carpet will be rolled out under the finish line for the completely exhausted but overjoyed athletes. In recent years, top long-distance triathlon athletes such as Patrick Lange, Anne Haug, Andreas Dreitz, Lucy Charles-Barclay, Sebastian Kienle, Daniela Ryf and Jan Frodeno have been celebrated here.

UNBELIEVABLE this private commitment for all those who accompany Jonas Deichmann in his marathon over the entire marathon distance

Roth Port

Highlight • Structure

The small port of Roth in the industrial area outside the city. Not spectacularly large, but the unloading of the load can be observed up close here.

June 7, 2024,Inspiration: Jonas Challenge 120 #5
One special thing that is definitely worth mentioning today is that just before the start of the marathon, Jonas' brother Siddy showed up. And in true Deichmann style, of course, he wasn't there to watch! 12 days after his fall and 11 days after his shoulder surgery, he wanted to take part in the marathon. It would be an understatement …

Today is marathon #3 in a row with Jonas. The weather provided ideal conditions. There is nothing new to report about Jonas: he started confidently, consistently and balanced - the end of the 4th Challenge Week.
But I simply have to mention two fan experiences today.
There is kilometer 30: arriving back in Roth after the dam section. Day after …

For today, Jonas' 29th CHALLENGE 120 day, my 5th marathon in his marathon group, and today my 4th in a row, a personal summary:
No two marathons have been the same. What they all have in common - I repeat - is Jonas' immense positive charisma and confidence, coupled with his determined and infectious will. The marathon group is brought …

As I wrote on Friday, this confidence and endurance and "I'll do it" from Jonas Deichmann in his CHALLENGE 120 is so inspiring and infectious that @Waldkind and I are back at the start of the marathon today, affectionately called LÄUFCHEN (quote!) by him. It was a pleasure to experience the course in the dry. We started with about ten …

Jonas Deichmann - ENDURANCE IN ITS PURE FORM! I'm sure most people have already heard of his current plan: to complete the Challenge Roth Triathlon long distance for 120 days IN A ROW 😱 Which would then mean a new world record.
And that "on our doorstep" - and who "has to" just show up on the course 😉 Sure, …

As I wrote here on Friday: Jonas is an inspiration. @Waldkind and I thought, inspiration is all well and good. But we don't want to put it off, we "just" want to do it. A stroke of luck: vacation and having time off make our plan easier, today we are at the start of Jonas' "RUN" number 27 again. There …
