February 16, 2025,Verschneite Grill- und Rodeltour von Gutenberg zum Römerstein
Yesterday we spontaneously changed our minds and so today we went from Gutenberg in the Lenninger valley up to the 872 meter high Römerstein.
Römerstein because there are barbecue areas up under the tower and there is snow on the Alb at the moment.
So we took the normal route up through the snow-covered Donntal, past the stream in which …

Today was not a golden November, but a November as we know it (wet and cold). But a nice tour with a lot of altitude.

A dream of a hiking trail, plus the wonderful, sunny autumn weather.

The insects are in full bloom 😂😀✌🏽

The route had to be adjusted from Römerstein to Gutenberg due to tree felling work. But no problem with komoot. Even discovered a great forest path. Please do not follow the path around the Sperberseck ruins!!! Pure wilderness and also a bit dangerous.

Showing Translation

GPS keeps missing in Donntal. The average of 6 km is an illusion. It was a leisurely journey, about 3 hours.

Initially very slippery, since the paths were quite icy.
Later through the forest on snowy paths, complete silence.
Only at the Roman tower was Halligalli.

Tour 17 from the book "Time for Hiking Swabian Alb" Bruckmann Verlag. From the Donntal, a side valley of the Lenninger Tal, the hike leads steeply up to the Alb plateau, quite comfortably to the Römerstein observation tower built by the Schwäbischer Albverein and between high, steep rock faces steeply back down into the valley.
