Wa’ahila Ridge State Recreation Area Car Park

Highlight • Parking

Good parking, trail well signed from the carpark. No fires are allowed. Toilets are provided. Carpark closes at 1830.

From that spot along Waʻahila Ridge Trail, you will get the first very nice views of Downtown Honolulu down below. But that's by far not the only viewpoint, there will be way more nice vistas along your ascent.

Diamond Head Viewpoint

After ascending a little further along Waʻahila Ridge Trail, the views keep getting better. After a steeper section, you will reach that viewpoint with a great overlook over the city. Far in the distance you can even see Diamond Head, the landmark of Oʻahu.

Good access path which joins the Wa’ahila Ridge trail from the Kolowalu Trail head.

Ropes have been provided for hikers, these provide more help going downhill as the ground underfoot is slippy when wet with limited natural features to give confidence. Definitely advised to wear good grippy footwear.

Mount Olympus Summit

With an elevation of more than 2,500 feet, Mount Olympus is one of the highest peaks on Oʻahu. The hike to the summit if very popular, so you probably won't be alone at the summit. But the great view of the valley and the ocean in front of you, will make you forget about everybody else and just enjoy the moment.
