Before heading home today, I took a short walk to Rotestein, a lookout point with a fantastic view of the Rappbode Dam. I started at the Stemberghaus (HWN 60), where they demonstrate charcoal burning in the Harz Mountains.

Short walk from the Stemberger Köhlerhütte to the Rotestein viewpoint above the Rappbodetalsperre.
The dam is impressive in size. The dam (not in the photos) is the highest in Germany at 106m.
