The now 76 year old has lived in Kamminke since 1946. Worked as a baker and in agriculture. "From 1972 to 1984, when I was disabled, I was mayor myself," reveals Kurt. The stone sculpture was not always in its current position. “It used to stand right on the water and had to move away from this point in the course of the further expansion of the port,” says Kamminker. The original stone sculpture is said to have broken off the arm of a fallen branch of a poplar during a storm, whereupon the sculpture disappeared a little later and was replaced by a new one.

... by the afternoon, the rain had cleared, and we were able to go on our planned walk to Kamminke (a pretty little village... right on the Polish border) in perfect late summer weather.

We really enjoyed the sunshine once again ☀️🏡 🌊🐟 😊. A great end to our time here on Usedom... for now... 😁.
