The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest national park in Southeast Europe and was one of the very first natural monuments to be included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list. It is located in the hilly karst region of central Croatia, approximately 55 kilometers as the crow flies from the Adriatic coast.

It is world-famous for its cascading lakes and still harbors all animal species in the protected area that were native to this region before human settlement. Due to the untouched nature, animals such as brown bears, which have already been eradicated elsewhere in Europe, can still be found there.

When we visited the Plitvice Lakes, we chose the parking lot and entrance P2. There were no tickets left for the entrance at P1 anyway 😳 I would recommend that to everyone, at P1 all the buses with tourists are dumped and crowds of people move towards the entrance 🙈
