Stone Bridge Over the River Wnion

Highlight • River

Filled to bursting due to current rain, but theres a nice stroll along this river for a mile or so.

Dolgellau Town Centre

Highlight • Settlement

Dolgellau is a small, charming town on the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Its cityscape is marked by the quarries in the surrounding countryside, which is why you can see here many cosy looking houses made of granite and slate. Otherwise, the small town offers everything a bike packer's heart desires, from restaurants to supermarkets.

Cregennan Lakes

Highlight • Lake

These twin lakes are particularly beautiful and lie just north of Cadair Idris. Both are owned by the National Trust and are free to visit. With mountains rising around them and views down to Barmouth and its estuary, don't leave your camera at home, because this is a fantastically photogenic spot.

Climb to Llynnoedd Cregennen from Arthog

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Very difficult climb - steep throughout, and in some places the legs and lungs will be begging for a break. That break comes with the need to go through a gate - something you won't have to worry about when you conquer the Cambrian Coast Sportive - and then another challenging finale past the yellow bin and waiting for you with coastal views towards Barmouth and the tranquility of Cregennen lakes.

Barmouth Bridge

Highlight • Cycleway

A single-track railway with a wooden pedestrian walkway alongside, Barmouth Bridge is a particularly awesome viaduct. It stretches across the estuary at Barmouth and provides fantastic views in every direction, including of the Cadair Idris massif to the south.

You can walk and cycle across the bridge and it's toll-free as of 2013, although you can donate a toll. Due to significant planned renovations, the bridge periodically closes for months at a time so always check if it's open before you visit, particularly if you're using it as part of a longer hike for the detour is considerable.

Barmouth Viaduct

Highlight • Monument

Barmouth Viaduct is a Grade II* listed single-track wooden railway viaduct across the estuary of the Afon Mawddach near Barmouth, Wales. It is 820 metres long and carries the Cambrian Line. It is the longest timber viaduct in Wales and one of the oldest in regular use in Britain

View of Barmouth Harbour

Highlight • Beach

Barmouth is a seaside town at the mouth of the Afon Mawddach. There is a large sandy beach and pretty promenade to ride along. Lots of shops and cafes, I recommend the Mermaid fish and chip shop which is open 12:00 - 20:00 every day.
