Killarney is the gateway to the Ring of Kerry. The cozy town itself isn't really full of sights — what makes Killarney so special is the beautiful surroundings. It was minted in the last ice age. The result is the beautiful mountains and picturesque lakes that you will see as soon as you leave the city.

Killarney is a great starting point for extensive road bike tours. In the city you can live and get everything you need. The regional airport Kerry County Airport is about 16 km out of town, which is served directly by Ryan Air from Germany. Alternatively, you can reach Killarney from Dublin by plane or train (about three hours).

Magical climb on really good new road surface. Love the signs for the next 1km showing the gradient getting gradually tougher. 9.8% for the last 0.5km was tough going. Good laugh for the couple at the top taking pictures though to see my auld carcass coming up the gap!
