In the approx. 190 hectare Wildenloh state forest there is a keep-fit path that not only invites you to sporting achievements. There is a 3,000 m running track and a trim area with strength and conditioning equipment. So you can keep fit in the midst of nature.
The fitness trail is also suitable for a walk with children, because there is also a playground.
Did you know that according to legend, the Wildenloh is a "Düwelswark" (devil's work)? According to legend, the following happened:
"...a long, long time ago it was the city of Oldenburg that wanted to build a church in God's honor. When the devil found out about this, he got angry and took revenge by destroying the church and the city that wanted to build it forever would be buried under the ground. He had to do this before the black rooster crowed the following morning. One night he tore a large forest out of the ground and flew over the countryside towards Oldenburg. There, where he tore the forest out of the ground, he filled it filled the hole with water and became the Zwischenahner Meer.
The sun slowly rose and a white rooster crowed. The devil was undeterred and just called: "Witte Hahn witt, I'll watch your step!" and flew on. Then the red rooster crowed. "Rode Hahn ro', I see you so no!" cried the devil, losing part of his load. The "little Wildenloh" now stands where part of the forest slipped away from him.
Finally the black rooster crowed and the devil shouted angrily "Swarte Hahn swart, you're kicking me all wedder up't hard!" and lost the rest of his burden. The devil then disappeared and no one ever saw him again. Where he lost the rest of the forest now stands the "big Wildenloh".
