A nice bench with an even nicer view awaits here.
Only the noise from the street spoils the picture a bit.

High Moor Trail in Nationalpark Schwarzwald

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

From the Darmstädter Hütte, a beautiful and easy-to-walk path leads over the plateau and later in wide hairpin bends down to the Wildsee as an alternative to the demanding descent from the Seekopf to the lake.

Wild lake

Highlight • Lake

The Wildsee is incredibly romantic. On hot days you are guaranteed to find a shady spot by the trees. Above the lake there is a small hut with seating. If you have the time, make sure to take the path to the Darmstädter Hütte, which is actually part of the Baiersbronner Bannwaldweg. It's worth it. The Wildsee, which is 910 meters high and almost twelve meters deep, creates a wonderful atmosphere. Pure, undisturbed sounds of nature and not a lot of people. A place to unwind.

Wilder See (Ruhestein)

Highlight • Lake

Great narrow path, equipped with stones and small rocks.
Many transverse tree trunks that you can climb over or crawl through below. Fun for everyone who is agile and sure-footed.

The Bannwaldtour is one of my favorite tours, I've walked it a few times. But be careful, in the winter some sections, such as to the Wildsee, are closed

The small lake is below the west path. At some points you have a nice view down. There is also a small branch down to the lake.

Julius Euting Memorial and Grave

Highlight • Monument

Julius Euting was a passionate hiker, u. a. President of the Vosges Club from 1876 to 1912, and was nicknamed "Ruhesteinvater" because of his fondness for hiking in the Black Forest. At his request, he was buried on a mountain ridge on the Seekopf in the northern Black Forest, roughly halfway between his home in Stuttgart / Tübingen and his place of work in Strasbourg. His grave can still be visited there today. Every year on his birthday on July 11th, according to a testamentary decree of Euting, Arabic mocha is served there - which in turn is related to his research area, oriental studies.
