July 22, 2026,🚐🖼️🏘️ Hohenlohe: Vellberg ~ Bühlertalwanderweg, Altstadt und Burg
After yesterday's spontaneous lazy day ☕📖☕📖😊 at the beautiful campsite in front of the outdoor pool in Vellberg, we started today full of drive on the Bühlertal hike.

This route has a lot to offer in terms of landscape, but a large section of the BTW along the river is hardly passable due to waist-high nettles, many fallen trees, and …

From Vellberg Castle we go to the idyllic Bühlertal. The partly narrow trail leads through dense forest and directly along the Bühler. Good shoes and sure-footedness are a must.
The highlight is the section over large stones right along the banks of the Bühler. Great for hot summer weather!

There is also enough space for a nice picnic.

!! ATTENTION!! The beautiful section directly along the Bühler between Vellberg and Rappolden is unfortunately permanently closed following the severe storms in June 2024!

Showing Translation

Nice hike with a stop at the “Wild Mustang” in Anhausen.
The final stretch should only be walked with good shoes when it is wet.

Showing Translation

A beautiful hike from Anhausen to Vellberg, with a walk around the castle and old town, and a coffee break. Afterwards, continue on a beautiful forest path along the Bühler River, sometimes over, under, or around fallen ash trees. Not a problem in dry weather, but caution is advised in wet conditions.

Winter hike through the Bühlertal near Vellberg. Many thanks to Bodhi for the direction. A very muddy affair in part.

Showing Translation

The path along the Bühler is beautiful, but it requires surefootedness.
In some places that are very close to the Bühler, the path was/is slippery in places.

Showing Translation

The tour started wonderfully and varied. Luckily it was overcast today because most of it is over land. Sun protection would have been appropriate otherwise.
And then... at the Bühler the path ended in the water. We had to climb about 50m on the slippery slope. We looked accordingly🙈
We survived it well, but the last kilometer was a pain😎😂
