Sant Fruitós d'Ossinyà Church

Highlight • Religious Site

This nice little church is right off the side of the GR2. I did not investigate Mas de Sant Fruitós, which is right above this, but I heard and saw people there. There were also some farm animals next to the trail so I guess it is a working farm.

This long path between Besalù and Santa Pau is a true off-road paradise: without traffic and entirely in the woods, it has a very simple gravel surface, which is easily passable even by gravel bicycles.

Gravel Path to Parc Garrel

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

This nice gravel road leads right to Parc Garrel and is great on a gravel bike. Much better than riding on the road. You can access it right outside of Sant Jaume de Llierca. However, if you miss the turn, just past the roundabout on N-260z, you can also access it as it passes very close to the road.

Parc Garrel

Highlight • Structure

A labyrinth, carved rocks and unique constructions are part of what is now known as Parc d'en Garrell, as unique as it is surprising. And which deserves a technical stop beyond the wonderful towns, volcanoes and dense nature of La Garrotxa.
The constructions are part of the work carried out by Josep Pujuila, who in addition to Garrell was known as 'Tarzán de Arguelager' and who was born in this municipality at the end of the 30s of the last century.
For five decades he dedicated himself to playing with his surroundings, dominating nature, creating a unique space where everything was in balance despite doing it without planning.

Parc Barrell

Highlight • Structure

This a somewhat smaller replica of the original Parc Garrel that was built by Josep Pujiula i Vila. He built this after the other one was closed down and destroyed when a highway was built. It is a crazy and interesting place to visit. Make sure to continue down the trail to see all the structures that are built here.
