Lamego is a charming town nestled in the vineyard-covered hills of the Alto Douro.
The town is famous for its baroque staircase leading up to the beautiful church of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios on the steep hill of Santo Estêvão. There are other sights to admire such as the Gothic cathedral and the Moorish castle. We didn't visit the latter.
