Bokelberger- & Dieckhorster Weg

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

This section is known as the Bokelberger & Dieckhorster Weg (Bokelberger & Dieckhorster Weg) between the towns of Müden (Aller) and Wilsche. The route is also part of the well-known "Aller Cycle Route" and "Lüneburg Heath Cycle Route"! The section is well signposted.

A brand new stork nest has adorned this old half-timbered house since 2021 and the Adebar family moved into the nest in the same year! This stork nest is already the 2nd stork nest in Müden (Aller) next to the one in the Alleraue near the Oker lock!

Aller Weir, Müden

Highlight • River

The old mill in Müden (Aller) is located in the Dieckhorst district. In 1959, a major fire broke out here and destroyed the entire mill operation.
Unfortunately, all that remains of the mill building is an (ugly) red shell.
The old weir below the road bridge was completely demolished and replaced by a modern (but also unsightly) hydroelectric power plant (a water screw). A new fish ladder was also built at great expense.

Stork's nest

Highlight • Natural

After a long hiatus, the bird family has been nesting in Müden again since May 2019! Several young storks have already been born, and the storks are expected to return in 2025!

A (unfortunately outdated) NABU information board reveals high birth rates and low birth rates until 2020.
The nest is located near the Old Müden Oker Weir!

Historic Oker Weir

Highlight • Monument

Over 100 years old Oker weir located in front of the confluence of the Oker and Aller. A small The landing stage (boardwalk) invites you to take a break directly on the Oker. The boats can then be put back into the water behind the weir.

Peaceful at low water, exciting at high water! Behind the weir, the Aller (originating near Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt) and the Oker, coming from the Harz mountains, meet! The weir was completely restored in 2006, especially the mechanical systems. The total of 14 wooden sluice gates can be opened & closed independently of each other.
The lock was built in 1880 and cost around 100,000 Marks at the time!
The side walls and the oval central part are made of large, hewn sandstone blocks.

The fish ladder in Müden/Aller was rebuilt in 2003 and invites you to take a break at the nearby Oker weir!
The weir can be crossed on foot or by bicycle.
A new wooden bench has invited visitors to rest since 2022!

From the bridge in the direction of Ahnsen/Meinersen you have the most beautiful view of the confluence. From here the Aller is on the left and from the weir the Oker flows a few meters. The river with the most water is actually the Oker. Sheep or Heidschnucke sheep can be found grazing at the confluence from time to time. The Oker did not always flow here, however, but several hundred years ago it flowed between Wienhausen and Bockelskamp in the Celle district (now scientifically proven!). So the legendary “Mundburg” never existed here, at least not here.
