Cadence Café

Highlight • Cafe

Very friendly and welcoming. Lots of vegan/veggie options. They were happy for me to charge devices, use facilities and top up water supplies. There's also an external door to use toilets and sink for water etc and a pump/tool stand.

There are two trails here. A blue "intermediate" and red "advanced trail" with jumps and very steep sections. The blue "intermediate" trail is just about OK for hybrid bikes with front suspension and you'll want to drop your tyre pressures to 50psi for the rough ground. I had 75psi for road riding and it was far too harsh. I didn't want to drop the pressures as I had an 18-mile ride home ahead of me.
Both trails really need a mountain bike with fatter tyres to cope with the rough tracks. Don't bring a road bike or anything like tag-alongs for young children here.

The village of Buriton enjoys an idyllic setting at the foot of the downs, complete with a duck pond. Next to the pond is the Church of Saint Mary, a beautiful building dating back to the 12th Century.

The church is a Grade II listed building* that dates from the 12th century. It has a nave, a chancel, a south aisle, a south porch, a west tower and a vestry. The church has some medieval wall paintings, a Norman font, a Jacobean pulpit and some stained glass windows by Charles Eamer Kempe

South Harting Hill Climb

Highlight • Climb

There are three good climbs heading south out of South Harting. The SDW crosses two of them at the top. Plenty to explore and excellent cycling around the area.
One of the climbs was closed for tree cutting on this visit.
