Very beautiful and sometimes challenging hiking trail up to the Arber. The effort for the ascent (descent) is worth it, if only because of the nature. Sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are essential!

February 14, 2022,Grosser Arbersee - Grosser Arber
From the large Arbersee with snowshoes up to the Zwieseler Hütte just below the summit of the Großer Arber. Wonderful sunny tour with beautiful views. A drawback - the view of the Alps was not quite possible.

A nice hike. A bit rocky in the upper part. Otherwise well signposted. Unfortunately the gastronomy was closed 🙄.

A very nice tour, with a beautiful view! After the forest a rocky path to go with caution!

We spent 4 beautiful days hiking in the Bavarian Forest. We were at Lusen, Rachel and Arber and at the treetop path. I also tried out a new app (SummitLynx) and received a certificate here. Tataa :-)

Today we did the classic hike in the Bavarian Forest, the Großer Arber. A winter climb from the Großer Arbersee via the Goldsteig to the summit. Just in time for the summit cross, there was some blue sky and at least a little more visibility.

According to the "Research Group Names" at the University of Regensburg, the mountain name Arber is probably of Celtic origin. It is probably derived from the Celtic "Arduikos" meaning "the high mountain". In any case, it deserves its name more than the Hoher Berg in Syke, even if both elevations have something in common with their far-reaching views and (former) …

Yesterday, the day finally arrived! André hiked the Grosser Arber with us. The entire way, he talked about drones and DJI cameras, and when we reached the summit, he even promised to cook us fried eggs when we got back home. Our legs were a bit sore at times, but after a short break, we continued on. Well done!

A very nice winter hike from the Großer Arbersee to the summit. The weather held up well and a bit of visibility towards the north-east was also possible.
