Harthausen Park

Highlight • Rest Area

Harthausen was first mentioned in a letter in 1141. In this letter, Waltmann the Elder of Waldeck gave an estate to Bernhard von Aigelswang as a fief. The first documentary mention took place in 1331, when the lords of Prant were named as feudal lords of Harthausen. They were later replaced by the Bavarian dukes.

From 1553 Harthausen appeared as the main team in the Aiblinger district court before it became part of the rural community of Mietraching. With this, it was incorporated into Bad Aibling in 1978 as part of the municipal reform, when it had long since grown together with the city.

Theresien Monument Bad Aibling

Highlight • Monument

The Theresienmonument, the most important monument in the city of Bad Aibling, was unveiled on June 1, 1835. It was built in memory of Prince Otto's farewell from his mother, Queen Therese of Bavaria. The great European powers had agreed on Otto, the second son of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, born on June 1, 1815, when Greece, which had become independent of the Ottoman Empire after an uprising, was to have its own king. Ludwig I was a great admirer of Greek culture and was happy to see his son take over Greece. On December 6, 1832, Prince Otto, who was still a minor, said goodbye to the city of Munich, his father accompanied him to Ottobrunn, his mother and sister Mathilde to Aibling, the older brother Maximilian, who later became King Max I, to over the national border.

This hike was planned for a long time, but it got very warm on the canal path and so a shortcut was decided on
