St Edward the Martyr Church, Corfe Castle

This church is named after Edward the Martyr, who was King of the English and was murdered on 18th March 978 by order of his stepmother, Queen Alfthryth. Edward was slain at the nearby Corfe Castle, the ruins of which are just a short walk from here.
