Reykjadalur Hot Springs Trailhead

Highlight • Parking

Hike to a hot springs area with one of the most beautiful natural pools in Iceland.
Hveragerði is popular with tourist buses because of the greenhouses, where you can drink coffee under banana trees. The real treasure of this region are the hot springs, which not only heat the greenhouses, but with the Hengill geothermal area also make for a very interesting scenic walk. Easy hike on well-marked trails.

Reykjadalur Hot Spring River

Highlight • River

The bathing area is beautifully situated between two plank banks. Here you can find a suitable place to bathe. The higher the warmer. Do you think it's too hot? You have a cold inflow via a second watercourse. This way you can play with the temperature.

Reykjadalur - The "Steam" Valley

Highlight (Segment) • Natural Monument

The walk to Drottningarhola and the warm water river in Reykjadalur is approximately 3 km long and takes approximately 45-60 minutes one way, with plenty of opportunities for photo stops along the way. Along the way you will encounter several hot springs and mud pools, and the walking route can sometimes be steep and narrow.

June 13, 2024,Reykjadalur Hot Spring – Waterfall Runde von Hveragerði
So basically a nice tour, but due to some landslides there is not much of the path through Steam Valley left in some places and the path through meadows, moors and hot springs is more adventurous than sensible.

hiking day. Karin and Robert told me that there is a nice 8 km long hiking trail to a hot river where you can swim. I pack my swimming trunks and off I go by bike to the starting point of the hike. I'm only progressing at a walking pace against the wind and congratulate myself on the decision not …
