War Memorial and Wayside Shrine

Highlight • Monument

There are classical and pragmatic monuments. This one doesn't fit into either category. A large, stylized dove in the center, surrounded by bright plaques commemorating war heroes. A truly beautiful way of remembering. Behind it, you'll also find a traditional wayside shrine.

Local History Museum

Highlight • Historical Site

The local history museum in Rohr is privately run by the Stumpf family. Here, you'll find history brought to life (or reconstructed) in various houses and rooms. The museum is open from May to October. I hiked past it in February, so it was closed. But it looks good even from the outside.

Roman-Era Burial Mound

Highlight • Historical Site

The area on the Lafnitz was founded in the Middle Neolithic, in the 5th millennium BC. Settled. The prehistoric settlement horizon is covered by thick alluvial layers, so that so far only a few finds have been made. In 1992, pottery shards from the late Lengyel culture (approx. 4000 BC) were recovered below the base of a Roman burial mound in the Oberlafnitzwiesen. Finds from the Bronze Age and Iron Age have been made in Wolfau. The Ringkogel near Hartberg was even fortified in the Iron Age.

Highlight • Lake

Here you'll find a fish pond at the edge of the woods. Unfortunately, it's private and fenced in. But it's fine for taking a photo or two :)

View of Hartberg and the Ringkogel

Highlight • Viewpoint

If you leave the forest path here and walk the few meters to the edge of the woods, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view stretching to Hartberg, the Ringkogel mountain, and beyond. A few meters further on, you'll also find shelter should you get caught in the rain. And once again, a fantastic view awaits.
