Rocky Trail to Maxhütte

Highlight • Trail

We recommend! The way there is in my opinion but not quite as simple as described. Due to the rocky path you should be sure-footed.

Stones, rubble, rocks. Annoying tour, I have to say, but once you are up there, everything is forgotten and the Kaiserschmarrn is also very tasty! 🙂

Beautiful hut and Tobias and Harry are great hosts. It was certainly not the last time we stayed at the Max Hut

A very beautiful hike in the Gunggeltal over a very rocky and steep path to the Maxhütte. For me, the hut was the most beautiful we have hiked to so far. Very rustic, delicious food and super friendly owners.

The path went through the forest until just before the destination and was rocky and full of roots. It wasn't difficult, but when it's wet - like today …

Day tickets in Ginzling cost €6. You can also buy a 4-hour ticket for €4.
If you drive about 300 meters further from the Nature Education Center parking lot after the toll sign, you can park for free on the side of the road at the sign where the Maxhüttenweg begins.

The tour to the Maxhütte is definitely worthwhile, as the path is very demanding and the protruding stones and roots require attention 👁 and sure-footedness, especially in wet weather. 💦
So you should be good on foot and wear sturdy shoes ☝️🥾🥾
On the way you pass a wonderful roaring torrent that eats its way through the densely wooded steep …
