Finstertal Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The Finstertal reservoir is a reservoir near Kühtai in Tyrol at an altitude of 2,300 meters.

It is quite exciting to look at the turquoise shimmering ice-cold water. However, the warehouse is not developed for tourism (no circular hiking trail, no restoration, no toilet). The next refreshment stop is 200 meters away, it is the Drei-Seen-Hütte.

Sulzkogel Summit

Highlight • Summit

Beautiful "simple" 3000s from Kühtai with just under 1000hm with appropriate condition is well feasible. In good conditions (stable weather, no more snow in the ascent), it is technically easy to do.
Ideally you make the peak during the week, as it is quite busy at the weekend,

Ascent to Sulzkogel (3,016 m)

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

The path leads past many springs. He is rocky steep and needs a good condition. At the end, light climbs to the summit are included. Have fun

Dortmunder Hütte

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Dortmunder Hütte is located directly above the reservoir Längental. Since it can also be reached by bus and car, you can save your power for mountain tours. The cabin is also located directly on the famous Ötztal Trek, so it is worth reserving in advance.

"Just" a challenging hike up a 3000-meter peak?! No glacier, no climbing, but still not to be underestimated! The majority of the elevation gain is in the 2 km before the summit, so it's steep. You also walk through the scree of the former Gamezkoglferner glacier; while not particularly exposed, surefootedness is required. Shortly before the summit, there's a less …

Accepted son's idea yesterday and bought touring poles. Got up very early this morning and drove from Plansee to Kühtai to conquer the 3000m Sulzkogel. Very demanding tour, especially in the last third over a lot of loose rocky ground. But the views, the beautiful turquoise lakes and small waterfalls made the effort worthwhile. 😊

Unfortunately there was still a lot of snow, but the first 3000 is done!

Wonderful practising session today. Due to two exams this week, I don't have time to write a more detailed description... Will follow when I get the chance.
Unfortunately, the camera quality on the phone is still terrible

great view mountain and a 3000m peak.
even if it is an "easy" one, it needs to be worked on, surefootedness and a head for heights are a must, occasionally you will also need to use your hands

The plan was actually to take the Kraspesspitz 2954m, the Schartenkopf 2855m and the Neunerkogel 2640m as my legs were probably not quite finished with the Olperer, so I stayed with the two peaks.
The attempt to climb over the ridge to the Gamskogel after the Sulzkogel also failed because it was steep and airy again🙄. I descended over the …

I still had the Sulzkogel on my bill and it had to be today 😊
So off to Kühtai after a good breakfast, the first meters in altitude with the three lakes train.
From there on to the Finstertal reservoir and take the path to the Sulzkogel, which turned out to be quite tedious.
Once at the top, a grandiose …
