Mary's Stones (Macnamara Boundary Stones)

Highlight • Historical Site

The story of the Macnamara boundary stones near the summit of Pen Twyn Glass mountain is a long but interesting one. Further details can be found here: ewyaslacy.org.uk/-/Mary-s-Stones-investigating-the-Mrs-Macnamara-Boundary-Stones-in-the-Black-Mountains/1820s/nw_lty_1002

Pen Twyn Glas

Highlight • Viewpoint

Pen Twyn Glas is a smaller subsidiary peak on the ridge up to Waun Fach. It's 646m and doesn't have a trig point. Great views from the summit tough both west towards Pen y Fan and up and down the ridge. It's part of the excellent Waun Fach horseshoe and visited on the Black Mountains round.

Pen Allt-mawr

Highlight • Viewpoint

If you do the Waun Fach Loop you can take in Pen Cerrig Calch and six other Nuttalls and it is a glorious 25km high level route with nearly 1,000m of height gain. For route details click here: komoot.com/tour/280372758

Pen Cerrig-calch summit

Highlight • Viewpoint

This remote and little visited summit is perfect for explorers keen to escape the crowds. Standing at 2,300 feet (701 m), the summit boasts spectacular views over the River Usk valley, Crickhowell, and further afield.

View of Sugar Loaf and Table Mountain

Highlight • Natural Monument

6

10.4 km

The flat and slightly sloping summit of Table Mountain looms over Crickhowell. At 1,480 feet (451 m) high, its flat top — at a slightly tipsy-looking angle — is an iconic Brecon Beacons feature. The views are sensational too. Gazing westwards you have the lovely Usk valley rising into the central Brecon Beacons and the industrial valleys of South Wales, while the brooding Black Mountains look over your shoulder.
