Historic Signal Box Lissendorf

Highlight • Monument

The lovingly restored former signal box can be viewed directly at the Lissendorf train station. There you get a very exciting insight into the former mechanical interlocking technology and you can set a signal yourself.
The signal box in Lissendorf, built in 1912, is an eye-catcher and history at the same time. Until 2006, it was still in service with rope pull technology, semaphore signals, lever benches and tensioning mechanisms, before it was replaced by a so-called "modular house" with remote-controlled EDP technology. With the technology that is still available, it is unique on the Cologne – Trier railway line and the oldest surviving lever signal box with cable pull technology on the Eifel line. Both the building and the technical facilities are under monument protection.

Historic Watermill Birgel

Highlight • Historical Site

The historic watermill is highly recommended. It consists of various mills, a grain mill, an oil mill, a mustard mill and a sawmill. There is also a distillery and a bakery where delicious fresh bread is baked every day.
The restaurant is quaint and the cuisine is top notch. Always worth a visit, even with children.

Birgel Watermill

Highlight • Monument

The old water mill is not only a real eye-catcher, but also offers an excellent opportunity for a refreshment break or is suitable for a day stop with an overnight stay. The Kyllradweg from Losheim to Birgel is great to ride. From Losheim to Jünkerath it's all along the route, then the cycle path becomes a bit more varied on different surfaces.
