Loket Castle

In my opinion, this is just a great opportunity to see a great view of the castle from the surrounding trail, with excellent viewing platforms. I definitely recommend visiting this castle in autumn, when golden autumn paints the surrounding mountains with a colorful carpet. Inside the castle, you can also find permanent exhibitions. I definitely recommend it.

Black Tower (Schwarzer Turm), Loket

The Black Tower was originally a defensive, prismatic tower of the city wall system. It is near the former main gate of the city that was part of the fortress, the so-called Lower Castle. Evidence of its defensive function are the narrow windows (loopholes). The tower warden's apartment was later set up on the top floor. His job was to protect the city from fires and other dangers. Today, the Black Tower offers visitors a beautiful view of the city and the castle. There is an exhibition of historical crafts, seals of the Loket guilds, instruction sheets, guild books and rules. The entrance to the tower is only halfway up, a testament to the tower's defensive function. The total height of the tower is 32 meters, from the street to the top floor there are 25 stone and 78 wooden steps to climb. Opening times: in July and August daily from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., in September only on weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission: 30 crowns, children and seniors 20 crowns.
