Ruins are always worth a visit! It's on the path, so it's not a special detour. The ruins are not particularly large. At the top there is a small viewing area with a bench. Beautiful view of the Danube included.

February 23, 2025,Hainburg, Ruine Röthelstein
Second hike in the "Hiking in the countryside" series from Wienerland. The loop from Wolfsthal along the Danube to the Röthelstein ruins, then on to Hainburg and back to Wolfsthal is an easy loop. Good weather with sunshine provided good views and a beautiful scenic experience.

Showing Translation

A leisurely walk along good paths and beautiful landscapes with the Wienerland group guided by @Wandertiger. It was a pleasure to share the route with people so motivated to have a good time and I hope to be able to attend some more.

Today Wienerland hike from Hainburg to Wolfsthal and back via Grenzlandweg 07 past the Röthelstein ruins. Although the wind was quite cold in the morning, it turned out to be a wonderful hiking day: sunshine, good visibility, and the Danube meadows are full of snowdrops. - And we also spotted the first wild garlic.
