The Walled Garden

The Walled Garden is located in the historic vegetable garden of King Willem III on Landgoed Oranje Nassau's Oord in the Renkums brook valley. It is enclosed by a beautiful old wall. Since 1999, the garden has been a productive one hectare agro-ecological horticultural business. Our passion lies in growing and cooking with vegetables full of flavors, smells and colors. We try different varieties every year and grow over 400 different edible crops: vegetables, fruits, herbs and edible flowers of historical, modern and wild varieties. In addition to biodiversity, a lot of attention is also paid to the soil in the garden, by means of as many permanent beds as possible, the use of compost and bokashi, ample crop rotation and various green manures. As an agro-ecological horticulture, it goes without saying that no poison or fertilizers are used, but rather collaborates with nature in order to generate a resilient, biodiverse ecosystem.
