Viewpoint at the parking area overlooking the Hermitage

Highlight • Other

The best viewpoint into Georges de Galamus and to the Ermitage Saint-Antoine is directly above the parking lot.
From here, a path invites you to the Ermitage. During the day, when it is open, you can go through a tunnel to the northern parking lot or make a circular route out of it. However, this is only recommended outside of the season, as you have to go back via the road. You can of course also go back the same way. 😉

The tunnel is unfortunately closed in the evening.

Highlight • Gorge

The gorges of galamus stretch for more than two kilometers along a road carved into the wall and a canyon of exceptional depth! A must see.

Pla de Brézou

Highlight • Other

The Pla de Brézou peaks at an altitude of 964 meters, above the Galamus gorges. A “pla” is a pasture which forms a small high altitude valley. This one, very green and isolated, is particularly pleasant. And the panoramic view is magnificent.

Gorges de Galamus

Highlight • Gorge

The Galamus gorges are classified and protected. They were dug over the centuries by the Agly river, and to this day constitute a precipice several tens of meters deep. A superb trail accessible by bike and on foot allows you to admire them for approximately two kilometers.
The site is popular for swimming and canyoning.

Galamus Gorge

Highlight • Gorge

Contrary to a description that the George de Galamus is car-free, I cannot agree in September. Cars drove through the gorge from both directions. So pedestrians, cyclists and cars shared the narrow road. It is possible that car traffic is regulated in the summer months. When I drove through - in September - the sign vent violent / strong wind was justified. That does not change the fact that the gorge is worth seeing. It is definitely worth seeing.

May 20, 2026,🇫🇷 - LES GORGES DE GALAMUS bei Saint-Paul-de-Fenouille
On a very warm day with bright sunshine, we started the tour quite late. The reason was the approach from the parking spot with the e-bike, which also took almost an hour. The tour is actually simple, at the beginning partly very steep uphill, and at the end, again partly very steep downhill. The sun turned some sections into a …
