Hiking

The pine forest of Sankt Peter-Ording was laid out during the Danish period, which lasted until 1864. In the area, which was once dominated by agriculture, Sankt Peter and Ording were considered the poor house, as they suffered from the flying sand. Thanks to the Danes, this could slowly be stopped by planting dune grass. Anyone walking, jogging or Nordic walking through the pine forest of Sankt Peter-Ording today will still be happy about the measures taken in the 19th century.
