It is worth highlighting the presence of a room integrated into the refuge that serves as a bivouac where you can freely spend the night. The "bivouac" is open and accessible even during the winter period!!! Composed of three beds with blankets, a toilet, a desk and a chair.

This 7.5-mile (12.1 km) route involves a climb of 1916 feet (584 metres), requiring about 4 hours and 42 minutes to complete. As you hike, you will pass through peaceful pastoral meadows and dense forests, encountering old stone buildings with distinctive 'piödè' roofs. Keep an eye out for the impressive Orrido della Val Taleggio, a deep gorge carved by the Enna stream, especially vibrant in spring. The atmosphere is often filled with the sound of cowbells, a nod to the region's rich cheesemaking heritage. This loop offers a rewarding journey for those with good fitness.
Planning your visit to the Rifugio Gherardi and Baciamorti Pass Loop is straightforward. Parking is generally available close to the trailhead, making it easy to begin your adventure. While much of the path is accessible, this moderate hike does require good fitness and sure-footedness for a comfortable experience. Consider starting your hike in the morning to allow ample time to enjoy the scenery and complete the loop before late afternoon.
