    Hiking

Rifugio Martina, at 1,280 m, overlooks Lake Como, offering panoramic views. Renowned for its "uncia" polenta, it has been offering typical local cuisine since 1928 and has rooms for overnight stays. Open all year, reservations are recommended. Website: rifugiomartina.com

Refuge at the top of the San Primo climb. First part in dirt, second part with very steep sections. At the top you can eat typical local dishes.

    Hiking

The Rifugio di Martina is the only alpine refuge on the circular route to San Primo. It gets very busy, especially on weekends! When the weather is nice, the locals use the lawns for sunbathing in front of and around the Refuge. There is a lot of hustle and bustle and the shelter service also takes longer 😊 If you prefer a quieter environment, you should choose another place for a good coffee or during the uphill week.

    580m

Embark on the Larian Triangle Ridge Crest Trail, a moderate hike that guides you through varied scenery. You will start in tranquil woodlands, transition into open meadows, and then ascend along scenic ridgelines. The terrain becomes increasingly stony as you approach the Monte San Primo Summit, the highest point in the Larian Triangle. This route covers 4.7 miles (7.6 km) with an elevation gain of 1894 feet (577 metres), typically taking around 3 hours and 28 minutes to complete. From the summit, you are rewarded with sweeping panoramic views of Lake Como and the surrounding Alpine peaks.

To begin your hike, head to the small mountain hamlet of Piano Rancio, which is easily accessible and located about a 20-minute drive from Bellagio. You will find convenient parking available directly at the trailhead in Piano Rancio. Planning an early start is advisable to fully enjoy the trail's offerings and secure a parking spot, particularly on busy days. Always check local conditions before you go, especially regarding weather changes at higher elevations.

This trail is a highlight for anyone wanting to experience the natural beauty of the Larian Triangle, offering a unique perspective on Lake Como. The route provides a chance to see both branches of the lake from a single vantage point, and on clear days, you might even spot Monte Rosa in the distance. It's a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the region's stunning landscapes and appreciate its diverse ecosystems.
