    Mountain biking

The Sugar City Trail features some small, jumpable bumps, table tops, and curvy banked turns. This attracts both intermediate riders and those seeking more excitement. While some sections are exposed, the bumps can be safely rolled over or taken with more speed to get some air. However, cows can damage the trail during wet weather, so be cautious. The trail ends on a flat section at the bottom of Big Valley Trail, allowing riders to climb back up and take multiple runs.

    Mountain biking

Usually a great trail with lots of flow. But the cows have destroyed the trail recently. Lots of deep hoof prints lead currently to a less fun ride. Hope it is better when you get there.

    Mountain biking

Sugar City Trail connects to Northern Harrier and is a narrow singletrack that descends a bare hillside by very economical use of elevation loss via very wide switchbacks, and sometimes even incurring a little elevation gain.

Crockett Hills Bay Area Ridge Trail Loop

The Crockett Hills Bay Area Ridge Trail Loop delivers a fantastic mountain biking experience, winding through rolling grasslands and eucalyptus-shaded meadows. From higher elevations and ridgetop trails like Soaring Eagle, you'll be rewarded with expansive views of San Pablo Bay, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, and distant peaks like Mount Tamalpais and Mount Diablo. The route features a mix of legitimate singletrack and fire roads, with purpose-built flow trails like Sugar City and Tree Frog adding an extra layer of fun with their rollers and berms.

This moderate 15.4-mile (24.8 km) loop involves about 1755 feet (535 metres) of elevation gain, typically taking around 2 hours and 29 minutes to complete. While some climbs can be steep, the overall experience is highly rewarding. The park is best enjoyed in spring when the hills are green and the views are crisp, though it can be hot in summer. Parking is generally available, and no special permits are needed for your ride.

What truly sets Crockett Hills apart for mountain bikers are its five miles of purpose-built flow trails, a pioneering effort for East Bay Regional Parks when they were constructed in 2014-2015. This makes it a unique destination for riders seeking dedicated mountain biking terrain. The park's design caters specifically to mountain biking, ensuring an engaging and exciting ride that's distinct from many other Bay Area trails.
