Salins-les-Bains is a city of character, fortified since Gallo-Roman times and surrounded by lush nature. If you like hiking or cycling, a trip to Mont Poupet is a must!

From the 8th century to 1962, the Great Saline naturally used salt water springs to produce valuable salt. White gold, this wealth essential to life, made Salins one of the most powerful cities in Franche-Comté in the Middle Ages.
For me a very impressive place, here the entire facility, which is located in the basement, was very well prepared.

It is very interesting to visit the saltworks. The underground part of the tour is only possible with a guide. It is best to be there early in the morning for the sightseeing, otherwise there will be too many people there.
The saltworks is a world cultural heritage site.
