From 1753 to 1758 the first church was built in Masserberg, which burned down on September 4, 1880 together with thirteen other houses. As early as October 9, 1883, the newly built mountain church, set back from the street, was inaugurated. An independent vicarage existed since 1856 (Wikipedia).

In 1758, the first church could be built in Masserberg. In 1880, the old church, along with 13 other houses, fell victim to a conflagration. Today's Bergkirche (mountain church) was consecrated on October 9, 1883, and is a simple yet inviting house of worship. The altar area was created by the renowned Greiz sculptor Elly-Viola Nahmacher.
