The Juan de Fuca Marine Trail follows one of Vancouver Island's wildest stretches of coastline, weaving between rainforest and remote beaches for 47 kilometres. Watch for the orange balls hanging in the trees – they mark the exits from the beach back onto the trail. Before setting out, check the tide tables, as high tides and storm surges can cut off sections of the route.
