The Bow River flows through the southern end of the town of Cochrane, flowing a total of 3,000 kilometres before it ends by emptying into Hudson Bay. The water that leaves Ghost Lake is cold and super oxygenated, making Cochrane's section of the Bow River a perfect breeding ground for large Brown and Rainbow Trout.
