The Taivassalo museum is located in the Viiasten manor. The lands of the village of Wiiala were acquired by the German-born nobleman Anders Garp in the 1370s. Thus began the Viiasten manor, which remained with the Garp-Karpelainen-Carpelan family until 1796. The current main building, which serves as a museum, was built in 1779. At that time, the owner of the manor was Gustaf Malm, whose wife was of the Carpelan family. King Gustav IV Adolf has also stayed at the Viiasten manor.
