The aqueduct was used to transport river water for the operation of the turbines in the pulp mill. The river water was previously taken from the river upstream of the Bodestrom and fed to the aqueduct through a tunnel. Several information boards on site provide a quite vivid picture of this clever way of "free" energy generation.
