As a Kempten resident, I've never had problems with the surface and only ride from Martinszell because that's when there's some mountain view. One can also complain like bububaer although there's no reason, because country paths are muddy worldwide when it rains and the Illerweg is still rideable. During the week, I visit Cafe Kohlhund in Immenstadt with its dreamy chocolate.

I have known the Illerradweg for 15 years and in every season. I ride with Schwalbe studded tires from October to April and, as a Kempten local, I have made several attempts on the Illerradweg. It is intended for tourists and no authority would ever clear the snow and ice from the path. Or can you name an authority that is receptive to that? Certainly not.
